A place for people to enjoy, learn, discover and relax, immersed in nature.
The Crooked Cabin sits on family land nestled in the West Coast of New Zealand’s stunning South Island, built by a couple of bald brothers Hamish & Ryan with their wives Camilla & Jo. Hamish built his first tiny home/cabin back in 2019, and spent 6 months living in it, to see what it was all about before starting this project. The brothers grew up on farms and have always loved being outside, they wanted to create an outdoor haven that others could enjoy.
Surrounded by natives.
The Crooked Cabin is located in regenerative native bush, a site that was once over run by gorse is now starting to be taken back by native plant species and native New Zealand birds. Keep an eye out for Fantails, Robin, Tomtit, Tui and Weka (aka bush chickens) running around, they can be quite cheeky at times.
Our tiny home is a litte unique, we’re entirely off the grid.
1. Solar Power
Our cabin runs entirely on solar, thanks to the sun we are able to turn the lights on.
2. Composting Toilet
A vented composting toilet lets you do your business in peace.
3. Rain Water
When the heavens open it fills up our water tank, through a series of pipes designed specifically for rain harvesting.
Step into solitude.
